Human Rights Education

We believe that educating about human rights, in conjunction with environmental sustainability and animal protection, is essential to building a world in which all can thrive.

While the establishment and upholding of essential human rights have been evolving toward greater equity and inclusion over time, abuses and injustices persist. Systemic racism and sexism; child abuse; human trafficking and enslavement; lack of access to nutritious food, clean water, sanitation, electricity, adequate education, and healthcare; and violent responses to conflicts continue to perpetuate inequity and suffering.

To advance human rights, humane education explores:

  • positive changes that have occurred in societies to achieve greater justice
  • ways in which human rights have been codified and extended through history
  • where and how injustices are occurring both regionally and globally
  • methods for solving the problems of injustice, abuse, and inequity
