Like any good habit, cultivating strengths such as empathy, forgiveness, compassion, and gratitude takes practice. And it often helps to have a little guidance.

Our friends at the Greater Good Science Center (in partnership with Hope Lab) have created a new resource, Greater Good in Action, which features “dozens of science-based exercises to boost personal well-being.”

The site offers exercises in a dozen categories — from awe to kindness to mindfulness to self-compassion — with varying frequency and duration of time.

The activities are also tagged as “casual,” “moderate,” and “intensive” to indicate levels of difficulty. Users of the site can rate the activities, leave comments, and track the ones they’ve completed.

Each activity includes instructions, as well as links to the research showing that it works.

TheĀ Greater Good in Action site is a valuable resource for humane educators and changemakers to help guide their own lives as well as to inspire others.
