Bringing an IHE Workshop to Your Community

Zoe Weil leads a MOGO Workshop, demonstrating with volunteers on top of milk crates, the importance of learning about the impact of our choices.“Organizing this workshop in my community was one of the most rewarding and enjoyable experiences I’ve had all year! Thank you!”
~ Sophia Erlsten, M. Ed. Student and Local Organizer of MOGO Orlando Workshop, 2008

"There's nothing more rewarding than bringing compassionate people together and witnessing their transformation into humane educators.  The positive energy and enthusiasm at a Sowing Seeds workshop is contagious, and participants walk away not only with excitement and passion to teach about humane issues, but with the skills and tools to become successful humane educators.  Helping to organize a Sowing Seeds workshop takes work and commitment, but the benefits are tremendous."
~ Dani Dennenberg, M.Ed., Director of Organizational & Higher Education Partnerships, Northwest Earth Institute, Local Organizer of Sowing Seeds San Diego, 2002, 2005

Sowing Seeds workshops and MOGO (Most Good) workshops are offered frequently in schools and communities, all around the U.S. and occasionally abroad. We are always looking for organizations and schools who want to host a Sowing Seeds and/or MOGO workshop in their region.

Alternatively, if you are an individual interested in helping organize a workshop, we can use your help in identifying one or more organizations or schools in your area that may want to sponsor a workshop.

Please contact us to find out how you can help: Amy@HumaneEducation.org, or 207.667.1025.

Workshop Participants:

A good group size for a workshop is 35-75; a minimum of 25 participants is needed. Talks can accommodate an audience from 25-500, or more.

Venue:

The ideal space for a workshop is a large, light-filled meeting room  that is handicapped accessible and has good A/V equipment. The venue should be fairly easy for participants to find, and include parking, and preferably, easy access to public transportation.

Workshop Cost:

We ask workshop hosts/sponsors to cover all expenses (includes all travel costs and lodging), plus a sliding scale fee of $1,500-3,000 for a 1-day workshop and $2,500-5,000 for a 2-day workshop. For shorter talks, we're happy to discuss an appropriate fee. We assume that the host will pay the full workshop amount, if possible. Sometimes, if the workshop is in conjunction with other events in the region, we may be able to reduce or waive our fee for institutions/individuals with financial challenges. If the lower end of our sliding scale is out of reach, we may be able to negotiate a reduced fee with the host school or organization.

Printed Material:

We provide printed material for the workshop, including one copy per participant of either The Power & Promise of Humane Education for the Sowing Seeds Workshop or Most Good, Least Harm: A Simple Principle for a Better World and Meaningful Life for the MOGO Workshop. If a host site pays on the lowest end of the sliding scale, we ask that you pay, at cost, for any book quantities over 50.
