Join IHE and Zoe Weil at the Sustainability: Educating for ACTion Conference in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, on November 15-16, 2012. Zoe will be a keynote speaker, leading two workshops on November 16.
Workshop 1: 10:30 a.m. - noon with delegates
The World Becomes What We Teach: Humane Education for a Restorative Planet
Imagine every student graduating from school with the knowledge, tools, and motivation to be a conscientious choicemaker and engaged changemaker for a sustainable, just, and humane world. Imagine all our graduates eagerly embracing their particular role in creating systems that are healthy for all people, all species, and for the planet itself. This is not only a positive vision for our children’s future but also a practical one. In a world facing multiple, interrelated, global challenges, it is paramount that we prepare youth for the critical parts they will play in achieving restoration and peace, and this session will explore how.
Workshop 2: 1-3:15 pm with students
Taking Responsibility for Creating a Healthier World
Zoe Weil will facilitate a session for students to enable them to put their values and what they’ve learned during the conference into practice in meaningful and inspiring ways that leave them feeling empowered and enthusiastic about the positive impact they can make through their lives and choices.
The conference is co-sponsored by the Manitoba Association of School Superintendents and Manitoba Education.
