Zoe Weil and IHE at Common Ground Country Fair - Unity, Maine
September 25, 2009 - 8:00 am to September 27, 2009
Event Type: Presentations
The Institute for Humane Education is participating in the Social and Political Action Area at MOFGA’s (Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association) 33rd Common Ground Country Fair on September 25, 26 & 27, 2009, in Unity, Maine.
Hundreds of vendors, exhibitors and demonstrators, more than a thousand volunteers, and tens of thousands of fair-goers will gather to share knowledge about sustainable living; eat organic, Maine-grown food; buy and sell Maine crafts and products; compete, learn, and have a great time. 59,000 people took part in MOFGA’s annual celebration of rural living in 2008.
Please visit IHE at our booth in the Social and Political Action Area of the Fair and attend IHE President Zoe Weil’s talk, “The World Becomes What You Teach: What is Education For?” on Saturday, September 26th from 9:00 - 10:00 a.m.
The Social and Political Action Area of the Fair serves as a common ground for a wide variety of organizations and groups to explore shared values and possible areas of cooperation; to encourage environmental protection and a respect for all living things; to make it possible for people to earn a living through their work and to develop their potential as human beings; to support public policy that promotes these objectives; to educate the public to injustices; and to provide opportunities to help right these injustices.
