Anna Lappé, daughter of food and democracy activist Frances Moore Lappé, and co-author of the books Grub and Hope’s Edge, has leapt into the food and climate conversation with her new book Diet for a Hot Planet: The Climate Crisis at the End of Your Fork and What You Can Do About It. On the surface, Lappé’s message is simple: “If we are serious about climate change, then we have to talk about food.”

But the underlying issues are incredibly complex, as she travels the globe, attending conferences, examining research, investigating industrial agriculture, searching for positive solutions. Lappé offers six principles for a climate-friendly diet and calls us to use the power of our plates as a tool for helping combat world hunger and the devastation of climate change.
